St. Maria Faustina Kowalska

Canonized in 2000, she's the first Saint of the new milennium.

The spiritual diary of this Polish mystic contains details of visions in which our Lord asked her to spread the message of his divine mercy.

Apparantly, Jesus also told her that he wanted the painting at the right done.

The Sunday after Easter is now known as Divine Mercy Sunday.

It's interesting (one might say ironic in the Alanis Morrissette sense of the word) that John Paul the Great instituted Divine Mercy Sunday (based on the Sr. Faustina writings) and then passed away on the eve of it.
